Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Interesting video - gave some pretty good insight into how to design one. Typical of Ken Winner - he probably designed a superior product.

BTW - his comment about not being tiring to to hold it with you arm because the wind hold it up is probably right -for light wind displacement mode sailing and maybe for foiling though i can't say. Webguy - can you foil holding the boom with one hand? I rode my kite buggy for hours at the beach one handed with a 4m kite.

Yes. But the harness is doing a lot of the work. I'll take some measurements this afternoon.

+1 on Ken Winner. Dude has always been clever. His adjustable outhaul using the strut is a great example. I can't see it's much worse than a boom in terms of head knocks.

This has a cool 3D viewer for the Naish wing......Just what AirPiracy Designs needed.......

The 好事多* version will probably be available soon.

The wind was a breeze at around 3m / s, so I tried the wing (Naish Wingsurfer) on a SUP longboard without using foil. I was almost unable to upwind in a breeze, and I was limited to Abeam. And because there is a lee helm, I will go a little off guard, but jibe is not difficult. If a wind of 5 to 6 m/s or more is blowing, put a paddle and you can enjoy playing with the wing (^ o ^)

I suspect most of those guys can actually take off w/o the wing, though the wing makes it easier to keep it going. Will it work for mere mortals? Or how about us sub-mortals?

Best version yet: Minor mod needed to the basic model (ala the Ken Winner boom). The best part is you can float on it, if the wind dies.

Duotone unboxing and first runs. Some pointed comments about the advantage of an alum boom vs handles. Looks like it will move pretty quickly, too. Foil SUP skills a plus - lots of foil pumping in the lulls.

Wonder how that would work on formula type windsurf board with a foil? Would probably help that the 15 lb or so rig weight wouldn't be holding it down. I'm guess it would take quite a bit of wind though.

I'm trying to figure out how it would do on a 25 ft sail boat. Robby said his one size works on anything so I'm leaning that way. Wink

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

I guess we have no choice but to get a wingsurfer and a 25 foot sailboat and find out. If you buy the sailboat I'll get a wingsurfer. Or maybe talk Gene into getting one and see how it works with his Laser. The Laser is just a really big SUP - Gene and I have both SUPed his.

A couple of people tried this on a slightly bigger boat. Not sure what happened but at least one of them ended up "board" sailing instead. Anyone know what happened to the guy?

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

Got an email today from the South Africa people. Interesting. Sounds like the wing concept is "taking off."

"Hey Spacestick Squadron....and others who may be curious.

We took the time to put out a letter to everyone about a few subjects we are getting a lot of emails about....

------ IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR YOUR WING IT IS COMING SOON----
You may be seeing some wings on the internet. A lot of those were from a small batch which the other brands used to promote and get pre orders.
It may appear that people can go out and buy them but it is not true.
The people who pre ordered wings of all brands will slowly start getting them by the end of this month. Most will not get theirs until August. Almost all the videos and photos you see are demos that were sent to distributors etc.

If you ordered an SPG Twin Strut through Spacesticklab you will surely have yours before or around the same time!
So hold tight.

We keep saying that we are swamped----everyone is---every brand----every team member helping the process----extra hours in the factory---- and more technicians were hired to handle the volume of orders.
It is true!

What was originally a 2 to 3 week wait for a wing quickly turned into 6 or 8 weeks. The flood of orders started the minute we put the wings up for sale.
BUT IF YOU ALREADY ORDERED YOU WILL BE SEEING YOURS SOON.
We will send you a tracking number AS SOON as we have it from the factory.

There are already some wings which have been shipped.
And we are getting the tracking numbers next week.
Cape Town is 12 hours ahead of us so the communication has been tricky.

----SEEING WINGS WITH METAL BOOMS?

The Duotone wings look well engineered. I am not going to knock Ken Winner as he is a great designer. But it is true that their design is seeking a certain type of experience. Ken and Julie are great and they put a lot into that design.
For us--- we are still completely sold on the inflated twin strut. It gives the same tilt control (one hand on the upper strut and one on the lower strut)
The ease of inflate and go is so great. And we believe that the amount of falling you will do makes the inflated center struts much more fun.
With an inflatable wing, if you have an issue way out in the water, you can deflate and paddle in very easily....no ropes...no metal bar which could sink to the bottom.
"oh no where is that one string I need?!"
None of that!
Everything you need is already on the wing and is all in one piece. Simplicity is the REASON we love wingsurfing.

--- NAISH HYPED UP ON INSTAGRAM?

We are not going to get into a competition with the mega groups like Naish. Their wing also looks very fun! But there are already rumors of companies going to a double strut next season.

No one knew that our designers in Cape Town were designing the simplest and most high performance wing on the market. Cape Town has more testing days than Hawaii -- and when the wind died in Cape Town the boys also went to Maui to test.

You picked the best wing to buy.
You will see.
Many have tried both.
It's unanimous.

---WHY NO SPG TWIN STRUTS ONLINE ANYWHERE

Great question. Simple answer.
Every time any more information about the TSS wings is published online there is an onslaught of questions and interest which no one has the time to manage right now.
Too many wings to build for those, LIKE YOU, who have ordered them.

We have never seen a product which is pre sold before it gets to stores, and has such demand that we are literally holding back with any more advertising until we need to.
There is more interest than anyone expected.

----YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS CAN STILL ORDER TSS WINGS FROM US

NO doubt your friends will see your wing and want one.
"where can I get one...what store?"
Spacesticklab is one of the only places that can take an actual order for a twin strut right now.
We are doing ZERO advertising and orders are still coming in.
Once you place an order with us you just sit back and wait for your wing to come.

You can relax knowing that we are monitoring the whole process
From the order, to the day you have it in your hand and send us a photo, we are going to make sure it gets to you.

Its true--- its a 6 to 8 week back log.
BUT IF YOU ARE ON THE LIST AND PAID YOU WILL GET ONE!
If you wait----it's likely going to be a very long wait.

If you place your order now you will have it by the mid of August.
If you wait to buy a wing of any brand in a store, you will be very limited.
Some companies are making it seem like you will be able to buy one in a store.
But there were only so many made of those brands.

You can wait for a shop----- next year?---- or wait for the mail carrier to hand deliver the best wing on the market.......straight from us.
And you will be a part of a squadron of TSS and Spacestick riders all over the world.
WE ARE STILL STITCHING WINGS DAILY
GET YOUR CUSTOM ORDER ADDED TO OUR PRODUCTION LINE TODAY

---- Is the TWIN STRUT BETTER?

YES, YES, YES, YES
The ability to tilt the wing (one hand on the top strut and one on the lower)
The safety of knowing one strut could pop( and the other is still inflated) is very good.
The QUALITY of the wings is outstanding.
The people who have tried a single strut, and a twin strut, all say the twin is the obvious winner.

The sail loft manufacturing the Twin Struts for us in Cape Town is AMAZING.
They have been making high end racing sails for boats--- and kites--- for many years.
The supervisors are on the floor daily and making sure that the wings are put under a THIRTY SIX HOUR inflation and pressure test of EVERY wing.
A couple extra days to wait for it is well worth the extra testing time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this....and if you have not ordered yet there is literally no reason to wait.
We are ready and can take all major Credit cards.

Also--- many people have not ordered because they are mad about the shipping rate.
Shipping is $100 flat fee as before--- but if the shipping ends up being much less for your area then we will credit you some money back.
The global demand is so high that we could not devise a simple shipping method for every country.

The wings are expedited from Cape Town on an international courier.
So you can order from anywhere in the world. We will get it there!

And if you will need a new board be sure to contact us......our boards have a soft shell of aerospace smooth foam on them. When you fall, arms on the wing in the air, your shins, hip and knees will love the CUSHTECH soft shell on our boards.
We are currently designing a short, fat, wide SUP board with a foil track. And a simple, yet revolutionary, new stability feature.
Soft shelled (Cushtech skin) with EPS foam core and Epoxy cloth/Basalt cloth construction under the skin.

Here is a video of the factory in Cape Town buzzing away and stitching like crazy!

Is there one with Randy's name on it in the queue?

Interesting take on the other brands. I respect their approach which is to blow your own horn without denigrating others. I wish them the best.

Re: Naish Wingsurfer

No wing with my name on it - yet. I want to demo one at OBX in the fall though. TBH - I think for displacement mode sailing (on a windsup for ex) my inflato sail may well be easier and more efficient. For planing or foiling probably the wings are better. However, I'm kind of dubious about planing on a splashboard with a wing - how often (and for how long) do you plane with a 4-5M sail - not hooked in? Never seen it in any of the demo video's either with a WS board planing. For foiling - lot of skill (and probably the right gear* and conditions) are required. I'm pretty sure it would work for Robby in Maui. Randy at Toona or Lanier? Lol But then I thought foils were just the monster trucks of windsurfing, so I'm pretty easy to sway.

*SUP foil combo probably is what the pros are using.
