Hello guys,
I was wondering when the wind is OK for a outing on Lake Lanier, Tybee or surrounding area.
HOW - do you get in touch with each other to see who's interested in going to kite?
WHERE - do you usually meet when you're going for kiting?
I'm asking because:
- in Europe they post on the Local Group on Facebook
- in Tampa I see the local riders do the same
How do you guys are doing it here?!

Check fakebook for Atlanta Kiteboarders group. Sometimes they post here too.

I've been looking on that Atlanta Kiteboarders on FB but since April until today... didn't see any posting about meeting
That is why I was thinking to ask about it just to make sure

Shame nobody has been posting this week on FB. It's been blowing since Sunday (super, super unusual). We post here - more windsurf oriented but you can read between the lines if conditions will be decent for you. Today, we had guys at both Old Fed and Van Pugh.
I think the biggest problem is the lack of kiters who feel comfortable on Lanier. You can count the regulars here on one hand unless it's a really big blow. I will say that the guys that do show up are always good company - it's generally a good vibe.
Please continue to post if you are interested in going. Even though it might just be windsurfers out with you, we can help keep an eye out for each other and it's nice to have someone around who understands the kite when you are putting it up or bringing it down.
Then there's guys like Randy who will bring any wind-powered device he can find or make. He keeps us all motivated.

Wow,... that's really something
Well if you said that, guess what?!
I'm jumping in the car and come right now !!!
Would you do a Share Location so I can input in my GPS ?!
Since I don't know that area yet, I don't wanna ride around the lake to chase windsurfs

Usually we go here : https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Van_Pugh_Park which, with the water up, is a really crappy place to launch a kite
Sometimes we go here: https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Old_Federal_Park which is a decent place to launch a kite.
(You'll recognize this as the spot of a recent kitemare that was on youtube and FB)
Both of these are good for SW, W and NW winds (Van Pugh works okay on NE, too)
On NE, E, SE, go here: https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Vann%27s_Tavern_Park Rogier and Alejo are here fairly frequently.
I just got here at the Old Fed in the Lake Lanier Sailing Club.
But I don't see any WindSurfers or Kiters
Not that much of wind anyway but just wanted to check locations

Breaking: Langdon just texted me. He's at Old Federale with Jim C. both doing the windfoil thing.
Old Fed is different than the LLSC. Chris V is up there today, btw, don't know if he's gone out. The LLSC is a private venue. When we are invited to sail there, we sail from the beach to the right from where you took the picture. Not a good place for kites. Those trees love to eat kites.
Old Federal Day Use area is on the other side of the road - the turn was about a quarter mile before the LLSC. The campground requires the payment of a camping fee.

Meanwhile, enjoy the view! (A few windsurfers are members there. If you like it, consider joining. It's quite affordable.)
