Sun 4/14

I was in N. AL over the weekend for a family event and today it was absolutely cranking all day - sunny and warm.

Anybody get out here?

I didn't go, but I heard from Al that he and Dave M sailed at Tidwell. It was pretty strong but sounds like they enjoyed it, sailing 5.3 and 4.1. Al did say he probably should have been on a 4.7.

The really good stuff was later in the day. Only problem say you arrived at 720 and rigged for the 8mph, only see 52 mph as soon as you hit the water:

Oh my, just read the news. It was a rough day during the rainy patches. We just had thunderstorms last night in N. AL and then just strong SW winds today. Hope nobody suffered damage at home.

For the first time in 35 years that I can recollect - crossing the Tenn River in Scottsboro, AL, I saw big whitecaps and rollers. I've crossed there a hundred times (well, many at night) but it's usually not very windy. Today looked like the day I wanted all this time. Oh, well.

I remember making a delivery there around 30 yrs ago, Scottsboro area was really cool but driving a big truck over that narrow metal bridge was pretty scary.

It was windy in Tarpon Springs, but not like Atlanta. I kited on an 8 meter kite in strong SW wind, sunny and hot. Lots of kiters and Windsurfers at Howard Park. Some rain came thru at sunset for about an hour.
