It was just William & me. Driving up to the Lake it didn't seem very windy, and upon arrival not many white caps. But boy was it worth the drive. William was foiling & I was on an almost constant plane, including planing jibes. Very flat water, fast & warm. Really warm at 60F. The only minor problem was debris in the water. The Lake level is really high.
Never have yet made it down to Lanier to sail with any of you guys yet, but will do someday. This forum and you all have been a great resource and inspiration, and I've always enjoyed seeing photos, reports, videos - even OPINIONS! In that vein, here's ~ 10 minutes worth from a session on Hartwell from Tuesday afternoon with a friend from Asheville. Nothing extreme - slow start, but it picks up - and was a real treat in January for me. (and in fact, the V-8 I"m sailing I got from Gene M a few years back, and the mast from William F!). keep up all the good fun, everyone! And i'll see y'all out there, somewhere, someday! (launch spot in video is Green Pond)
Nice video of your windsurfing session! Conditions look identical to what we experienced the same day on Lake Lanier. Thanks for posting. It's good to see your Neil Pryde 7.0 is getting a new life on the water at Lake Hartwell. Tues was amazingly warm for Jan. in N. GA.
well....ok! (maybe some of you feel the same way: watching windsurfing is the only reasonable substitute for actually windsurfing!?)
This one is hopefully good for some laughs - from my first half-dozen or so efforts. It is, at least, a bit of a time capsule, harking way back to the quaint days when a tiny smart phone in a glorified ziploc bag felt high tech - to some 7 (?) years ago when, on a whim, I picked up my first windsurfer on the cheap up here in Asheville. The footage is bad, the technique is bad, the equipment wasn't too bad, but the way I rigged it was bad, etc. etc. But I tried to make the most of it, and you all can tell me if learning to windsurf inherently HAS to be this painful and humiliating. Or.... if there's a better way (b/c currently, my enthusiasm for wanting to get some friends into this sport is really tampered by knowing what a hell of a rough learning curve is awaiting them). enjoy?
Enjoyed the videos - both. I used to travel to G'ville regularly and always would try sail Green pond if I could. Good spot. Nice to hear some music off the beaten path for a w/s video - Mozart?
That first session 2019 is so smooth! Helmet mount gopro, right? Mine is so bumpy
helmet mounted Ion air pro. Cheap camera (but decent video). No stabilization though. I'd suspect the difference is my slower speeds and what looks like smoother seas. (but I also utilized the 60 frames per second option, which might help smooth things over?)

Mozart?
- Rossini's Barber of Seville. But ha, I just had to look that up. Honestly, I know the piece from Bugs Bunny
Poop. Missed Saturday ‘cause I was feeling poorly. Now I feel good, but ironically have a doctors appointment afternoon. Have fun!
Tempting.

Maybe Wednesday if it holds up.
Marek
I'm in.
How was it today? It never looked that great on the South Side.
Going to Van Pugh Wed if I feel better.

Glad y'all had a good day, going tomorrow?

Great video! Loved it and great to see you all out on the water. We'll have to have a Hartwell meetup soon.
(Hey, Randy, looks like you and Barrett have some competition on the video front. )
Yes - very nice video! Show us more!
