pfft... both Barret and Peggy, and pros in Europe already ride them. Shok

Climbing the hill sometimes is the best part. Shame that some people miss it. But I get the part that not everyone has the fitness or health to do it and it keeps people on bikes who otherwise would have to find something else to do. Just don't turn it into a Harley.

Is this what the future holds? Biker gangs riding into town on Harley e-bikes?

Gene, that's interesting. Will Harley will figure out a way to build an e-bike that requires a tune up on the side of the road every ten miles. Lol

Randy, when the gang comes to town, it'll sound like this:

Apologies to club members who own a hog. Blush

I rode one of these at Highland Park. No gears just 4 map switches from low to high. When riding this bike all you hear are the tires on the ground and the chain slapping. About as fast as my gas dirt bike but the range is measured in hours not miles. Range is about 2.5 hr. Not enough range for me. Price is about $11K.

When they make an e-uphaul, then I'll pay attention. Biggrin

Maybe a Z-Drag system would help

High end road e-bike

https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-endurance-sl-e/

"The Ribble Endurance SLe has exceeded this brief and set a new benchmark for e-road bike design. Weighing as little as 11kg the SLe has positioned itself as the lightest e-road bike range in the World, offering the rider up to 40NM of smooth and controlled power assistance on climbs and up to 26km/h through 3 power settings combined with a 250w internal battery capacity (or up to 750w with the additional external battery packs) all of this is built into a superlight chassis that has all the attributes of a cutting edge high-end road bike."

Ribble is a really good online store in the UK. If you need Shimano stuff, Ribble and Chain Reaction often have the stuff below US wholesale

I wonder how you change that battery... maybe just get a new €5,000 bike?

Well, my first guess was completely off the mark - that the battery was in the seat tube. It's actually in the down tube. Here's Orbea's take on the same motor technology, the Ebikemotion X35

https://granfondo-cycling.com/orbea-gain/

btw, the Shimano 105 version is $3200. Current 105 is regarded very well vs it's more costly siblings. And, let's face it, if you are getting an e-bike, the grams you save by going Ultegra aren't going to matter. But the eTap is sweet but I don't think available in the States as SRAM try not to have their stuff shipped retail from Europe.

Now efoils are controversial (or about to be)

The future is here. The electric foil looks like a lot of fun. I was out with the owner once and the ratio of waves he caught compared to me was like 20 to 1. One in the lineup is not annoying (if he knows what he's doing and leaves waves to the others), but 5 would be complete chaos, imo. There will be need for regulations, I'm afraid. Maybe I should buy one before that happens...
