Currently Euro model targets SC. GFS targets NC/VA/New England and a pretty strong storm. ETA is next weekend. The more southerly route's wind field would be felt here. Either path looks pretty grim for the coast, though.

Likely Helene and Isaac in the eastern Atlantic. Florence stays pointed to the Carolinas. 94L between OBX and Bermuda and a hint of something off the Yucatan next week.
Edit: and that thing in the Bahamas, too.
Another ride I'd like to get off of.
Road Trip anyone?.......Anyone?...... Bueller?

Clark Hill?
Hartwell?
Where would be a good place to go where we can return with ourselves and our gear mostly intact?
Music Midtown? That's where I'll be. Have enough gas for the round trip where ever you go. This one is going to be a whole 'nother level. Dropsonde just picked up Cat 5 winds. Flo hasn't even got to the warm water yet.
Whole nother level...This one never gets old.

Wow, that was certainly depressing. I'll grab my teddy now, go into my bunker, and quietly sob.

With the current track, I don't think we will be getting that much wind over here at Clark's Hill (just saying 10-15 now), but I'm keeping an eye out for any 20+ in the forecast. Maybe Thursday or Friday?
Well, if it is not going to bring any good wind within driving distance, I'd just soon it turned north and headed to Greenland wherever hurricanes go to die.

Agreed. Very selfishly, I don't want my favorite vacation location (within driving distance), to get wiped out. With the current track, Hatteras Island may be getting a new inlet or two
It's already getting one.
You aren't selfish. No one wants to see what's likely to happen to NC and elsewhere over the next few days favorite places or not.

It's getting a new bridge too. I don't know if that is supposed to eliminate the problem of the new inlet being formed or just it prevent it from creating a new island with no access..

Welp, looks like I am off to the store to load up on bread and water. A Cat 1 in Augusta this weekend??? Hopefully that sharp southern turn is just a software glitch in the model.

Nitro, bad turn for our friends out Augusta way. My brother's place, where I was in July, is pretty much at Ground Zero so I've been watching all this with a sense of dread. Plus, I'm finding out how much PTSD I still have from dealing with Irma damage. All the best to you.
Unlike some storms that look scary and then turn to a more harmless direction, this one seems to do the opposite like Harvey. Almost every change seems to be for the worse.
Yep, it's no joke now. Irma was bad enough last year. No power for 5 days, trees down everywhere. I used to have a backyard neighbor, not anymore - their house was completely flattened by downed trees (fortunately the family is okay, but their house was so badly damaged they decided not to rebuild)

In a twisted bit of irony this got 52 likes. Everyone might want to check on their homeowners insurance for rain and wind damage coverage.
