Newbie looking for some advice

I’m trying to determine if the old equipment I have in storage is with using and paying to get it shipped from Ohio.
I will upload More images this evening.

Also, if anyone has a good beginner board please let me know !

Edit: How rude of me! Welcome and great talking to you Sunday. You were a good luck charm as I got my only flights of the day right after we spoke.

The Bic and NP sails are fine for your level. The mast should be replaced when you get the chance for something carbonish. It'll do for your first couple of times but having decent carbon (30-70% depending on your budget) mast is nice. Don't spend too much as there is a chance that you'll prefer reduced diameter (RDM) masts, especially 430 and below. Masts come in 30cm increments 340,370 etc to 550. A 400-460 will cover 95% of what we do here. The V6 will require an SDM. If you can rig the others without cams (I think on the Bic, it was optional), you can go ahead and probably rig those on a modern RDM.

I've got a couple of 150ish liter boards in the For Sail section if you are ambitious and want to learn without a daggerboard. Since I have a conflict of interest, I'll let others chime in on the merits of going this way. Foildood is selling cheap a Formula board which will be very stable under you, too. There is some other bigger, floatier gear, too. It's a bit expensive but the Viper in Greenville, SC would be a solid board for the next 6 months to a year for you. Given your other hobbies, I imagine you'll end up wanting something livelier as your skills progress.

We'll keep an eye peeled for any other kit. Do check out here, too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/425661507450784/

Do you even think it’s worth getting that stuff shipped in from Ohio ??
Wasn’t sure if it would be better to buy a used rig package if someone is selling.

I will check out the forsail section !

Thanks

The Bic and NP are probably worth it if it costs $50 or less. You can probably stuff them both into the same box. The mast, imho, isn't really since that's $40 you could put to a new(er) mast. A modern mast weighs about 4-5 pounds while that old epoxy one weighs about 7. If it was in your back yard, I'd say use it but if you are going to pay shipping - no. Plus, it's oversize so the shipping won't be cheap.

Keep in mind, "members" get a 10% discount at Wind NC. Also, Isthmus is clearing out their private label stock pretty cheap. For your V6, try to dig up an older 460 carbon mast. The 430 Chinook I'm selling is pretty nice but you may decide to invest in an RDM at that size. Before you start to splurge on brand new masts, check with us because a few brands are finicky about the bend curve, a topic that would bore most people to death but it'll prevent you from buying something that is just a hair off from being what you want.

This is also close out time of year. Check out Big Winds and Windance in the gorge and Second Wind Maui. Also, Maui Sails is blowing out some stuff from previous years.

I've got a Starboard Rio (medium) that I'm glad to loan until something comes along. I only keep it for people to learn on, so it's just sitting here, waiting for you!

Yeah - back (home again) from Indiana. BTW - I have to admit - I've never actually seen the movie.

Forecast looks dodgy, imho. Sunday looks a bit wet. Langdon sounds game, though.
