Gorge Update

All the smoke is gone!
Took the 8:20 am flight on Saturday from Atlanta. On water at Doug's by 3pm for an excellent 2 hour session, Sophie on 3.0, me on 3.5.
Yesterday I was on 4.0 and Sophie on 3.5 at Roosevelt.
Looks like next wave of wind is on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta wind forecast is having a hard time breaking the 3 (mph not bft) for the next week. Help

Ouch... looked again and things look grim.

Marek, we are counting on you - somebody from Atlanta needs to have fun this week.

Re: Gorge Update

Wind did come back on Wednesday, but a bit on the lower side, 4.7 from Wednesday to Friday and 4.0 today. Not the best days that I’ve had in the Gorge, shorter sessions and a bit gusty, but sure beats “no dots”.
Last swap meet of the season tomorrow morning. Always fun to get up early, get a coffee and see what I will end up buying that I didn’t need.

Re: Gorge Update

I could waste so much money there. So, your for sale post suggests a new quiver?

Re: Gorge Update

Hey William,

No new quiver yet. I just have double of the same sails in Atlanta and in the Gorge, so looking to consolidate a bit. We are actually looking at moving to the Gorge so will need to trim down in ATL on the gear.

The swap was good, but has definitely gotten smaller each year. Didn't buy anything, but was really considering two boards a Real Wind and an RRD....but in the end I have too much stuff already so my $ stayed in my pocket. The swaps are fun to go to and good place to say hi to all the people that you meet on the river.
PS. All the boards in the picture are are all from the Gorge Windsurf Association...they were all donated to the Association, the sale proceeds help the association with their funding.

It's depressing the number of people we've sent out there. Anyways, why would you live in a place full of active volcanoes? Did you not pay attention in history class? Biggrin

Its like having Fireworks everyday!

Seriously, skiing and windsurfing all in one place...not too bad. But getting used to living in a winter climate again may be a bit hard to get used to.

Re: Gorge Update

I lived in Seattle for a year. Winter there was pretty mild. Never got very hot in the summer. I think Portland is about the same. Gorge is a bit further inland though.
