Land sailing on a Blow-cart

This may be something new for Randy. I picked up the brochure in Bonaire thinking you may want to give Blow-carting a try. I know you sailed a cart with a kite, but the Blow-cart appears to go upwind with ease. Windsurfing conditions were so good at Lac Bay, I never tried it.

Those have shown up at Jekyll the for a number of years. On the beach they work great and are quite easy to sail, from what I have heard. I'm not sure they would work as well at my local spots because the fetches are short and having a kite above the tree line may be an advantage. I'm thinking of trying my landboards with sail at the fairgrounds next fall to see if it would work. I could probably just mount a sail on my buggy. Here is a couple of ways it could be done. In the end though, I still like using my kites.

Land sailing can be anywhere from mundane to fun to absolutely frightening. 126 mph in a blinding sandstorm.

The guy who sets a record - no sound track. Lolling around a parking lot - Darude's Sandstorm. The irony is delicious.

Here is an interesting one. 50 MPH downwind in 20 MPH wind.

What a difference HD makes. Compare the old Blow Carts to the new Go Pro HD.

The difference in picture quality is shocking. The downside of HD compared to the older cameras is that it takes a lot more computer power, memory and storage to make a video now. My computer started to choke whenever I tried to make videos on Windows Movie Maker after I got an HD camera. Now I use some Linux apps that have much lower functionality - but they don't choke as much. Also the HD stuff eats up you storage space like crazy.

BTW - you can now buy action cams online comparable to the old GoPro's for $15-20.

Kind of like when my kids were little, they thought I grew up in a world of black and white, someday kids will think that we all needed glasses because our photos and videos were so blurry.

That Go Pro was $100. I use Power Director to make all videos. I defrag before and after making movies and I never have any slow issues. I also work off a 1 Terabyte external hard drive. Never any issues. I have made about 100 videos. I love each and all of them. I have gotten fast at making these things too.

I probably need to buy a new computer, though part of the problem is that I only need one for making videos and I'd probably have to get back into the evil Windowverse or Appledimension.

Apple sucks as in they will take your money and run. They are very good at that.
