Personally, If I saw a tornado bearing down, I'd drive away from it. But there has to be an extreme athlete wondering what it's like to sail in a circle with 100mph+ wind and not see where you're going. Maybe Red Bull will hold an extreme event somewhere along tornado alley.
I was hoping those guys knew how to water start. Something odd though about these yacht videos. They don't show the guys driving their cars to the launch, and rigging their sails and all that other good stuff we see in windsurfing vids.
BTW - I picked the waterspout video because it was the shortest one I could find.

Take a tip from these guys. Put 10,000 lbs of cast iron on the bottom of your board. Guaranteed to help you waterstart every time.

Maybe I should change my sig line to "Welcome to Atlanta, where Windsport Dream come to die." Well, there are always Kite Videos from back in age of wind.

At those winds, you aren't sailing. You are debris.

Some sailors do try to sail to waterspouts shown on youtube. Here is a short one:

They were expecting a squall, not water spout. The non-weather channel version with video of the actual event.

Thanks for looking up version #2 as reported by the actual sailors.

Props to Randy for the original video. Need to phone up my niece who lives in Laramie and find out if she got a glimpse.
That boat knock down must have been frightening and disorienting. It went down in the opposite direction it had been heeling.

I've always hated that stuff.

I know what secret ingredient I'm cooking with next year at OBX!
Polish sausages with "deli" mustard. Salad with dijonnaise dressing. Steak with dijonnaise sause. Oh, the possiblities are endless!
This windless streak is getting bad. Is it time to summon the cat videos?
