I will probably be sailing on Lake Zwerner (Dahlonega) tomorrow morning around 11:00.
Most likley just be cruising around on the Longboard.
Bear on the Square Festival is this weekend... Bring the Misses/Mister and let her/him shop while you glide around the lake.

*Unless it the wind forecast increases tomorrow AM then I will go to Vanns

Good day on Zwerner.
One of the few times that I have seen whitecaps on this lake.
Tim D and Kyle (passing by SUPer that was curious about windsurfing) sailed longboards also..

Where does one park for Zwerner? Any other tidbits we can add to the wiki?

West side of the lake right past the bridge.
There is a boat ramp and grassy area.
There is no fee to go on the lake and there is no swimming allowed.
This is a reservoir and is not maintained by the COE.
There are portable bathrooms on the other side of lake and a hiking trail that goes around the lake.8
Walmart, Zaxbys, Wendys, Captain D's and Chick Fil A are less than 5 mins away
No boats with gas motors so the lake stays flat.
Good on NE, E and SE for winds under 15mph.

Is there a problem with wind over 15?

Yes, the terrain causes some swirling especially if you are on the eastern side of the lake....kinda like what the island off from Old Fed does.

And.... the geese and coots are fat and can't get out of the way in time.

Yeah we have only the water coming in to Zwerner from the Yahoola Creek and Ward creek. Not too big of a watershed.
It stays pretty clear until July and August .
Once again ... no boat traffic to stir things up and there are 3 or 4 SolarBee's (mixers) * on the surface.

I know.... its the concentration of pollutants to volume of water.
This being said ... if you see the storm drains in Dahlonega there is usually symbols that this water is going to trout streams and care is usually taken to reduce contamination both biological and chemical.

Anything in Zwerner is going into the Chestatee then Lanier and from what I have seen I don't think the Chestatee filters anything.

* the SolarBees are my markers to make my turns around. (But I would not want to drop a sail on them.
They have sharp stuff pointing several directions)
