Man Launches himself in homebuilt rocket

To prove the earth is flat. That's what I call dedication. We windsporters could use a little of his grit.

It would be ironic if he got directions to the launch site via GPS.

Usually the comments section is like reading bathroom walls, but there were some pretty good ones on his video. One comment was he only went 1800 ft - he could have bought a plane ticket for a lot less money and had a safer view.

Modern airplanes require science. Something this guy isn't so good at.

I don’t play pool, or even care about pool, but that was amazing!

Re: Man Launches himself in homebuilt rocket

Here's another video of something about as stupid as building a rocket to prove the earth is flat. Don't try this at home kids. (See around :55 and 1:38 for full effect). I had never heard of Car Surfing before today, but there was an article about it in the AJC. Seems someone tried it on a local freeway and (I'm shocked) got thrown off and was injured. Well, I suppose it is something to try in the no wind season.

A surprising number of kids die car surfing.

Enough for the CDC to study it: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5741a2.htm

At least 7 last year (as of October): https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/10/11/car-surfing-death/91880050/

Please tell me that these crazy acts don't qualify as windsports.... the car surfing and the self launch to 1800 ft orbit

The self launch? No. The ride down? Maybe. Biggrin

This is the off-topic category where Randy and I generally discuss cat videos. We both were that distractable kid in the back of the classroom. But, do watch the pool video. Good

The car surfing does qualify as an "Apparent WInd" sport.
