As I always say "The fault, dear Windsporters, lies not in our winds or in our launches but in ourselves that we suck."

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

Van Pugh. Models calling westish. The swell should be epic to play on even if I have to flounder out to the wind line.

After doing some research on wikipedia, I should have said "wind waves".

Quote:
A swell, in the context of an ocean, sea or lake, is a series of mechanical waves that propagate along the interface between water and air and so they are often referred to as surface gravity waves. These series of surface gravity waves are not wind waves, which are generated by the immediate local wind, but instead are generated by distant weather systems, where wind blows for a duration of time over a fetch of water. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swell_(ocean)

Count me in for Van Pugh. Gee, sixty degree weather, that's swell!

Warmth & wind. Today we got the conditions we’ve been waiting for. Trey & Marek, if only you’d hung out a few minutes longer. Alan, Ed, Foilboy, Chris P., William, Langdon & I all sailed VP.

If I have this string of days at OBX, I think it's a rare treat. Six of the last eight.... This will be remembered for a long time

Re: Beware the Ides of March

I'm only 5/8 but pretty happy with that - tasting windsport on asphalt, mud, dirt and water. This goes to prove my theory that there is one week every year which I call Wind Week where it blows just about every day.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

Re: Beware the Ides of March

Someone had to make a sacrifice and leave for the wind to blow. I guess in this case it took 3, Gene, Trey and me.

Sail sizes?

Re: Beware the Ides of March

Marek, I went out on my 7.0m, but I rigged before the wind picked up and would have preferred a smaller sail. I think William was on a 6.0m and rigged right. The only reason it wasn't a perfect day, the wind was out of the West and never came into the cove. I had to wait for gusts to launch, but once away from shore, it was quite steady.

Re: Beware the Ides of March

Sounds like a good day, glad you all had fun. It was blowing like crazy at my house when I got back...so I thought you guys may have been on smaller sails.
If it was in the 6m range I don't feel that bad about missing it...would have been nice to be on the water but now my socks are super organized.

Re: Beware the Ides of March

I was on a 7.0 and powered like mad. I would have been fine on the 6.0, too. Really fun going up into the channel and bearing off on the flats. Made me wish for 10 minutes I was on a racier board.

Big props to Foildood. He was wound up on a 5.5 and scooting along pretty well. Tried to chase him down bearing off and the rascal was going faster than I expected. Good
