I hope to go to Old Fed after lunch, forecast is warm (57 degrees) and windy?

Tuesday shows wind also but 45 degrees.

Langdon and I are resting from four days down in St. Pete. We had a great time. Good wind Thur, Fri and Sat.

I'll let Langdon tell you more about Sunday. Hopefully, the video came out okay. Biggrin

I know you're trying to make us jealous, but It was a balmy 56F when we headed out. Never mind that Jim, Chris, Scott & Gene all came by complaining about the cold. Rhett, Chris P. & I took advantage of the steady 25 mph NNW wind for an epic session.

Unless you have a video, it didn't happen. Whatever it was....

Short(ish) version of the story: Foiled into thigh deep water doing a hero run for Langdon's GoPro. Foil requires waist+ deep. Crunching ensued. I'm spendiing this week with epoxy, glass and cf. Initial impression was that I'd destroyed the fin box but subsequent examination and messaging Alex at Tillo allayed those fears. Reason 17 to get a real foil board - there's a lot of extra material back there. Side note: Alex couldn't have been more helpful.

The NorthBeach windsurfing folks were demoing Slingshot board/foil combo and guys were making it look easy on the first day. Another guy was hitting full foiling jibes on his Slingshot kit. He was using a smaller wing (as was I) Friday and Saturday. He had a 5.7 and I had a 6.0 when normies had trouble going on 7.5s. The kite foils are just crazy in light winds - riding in 5-8 mph.

I was hoping that Langdon would post the video - he was sitting on his board not realizing he was almost touching the bottom. We were about 40 yds from shore. I knew that he was probably at the edge of the shallow water but like an idiot teen skater, was fixated by the camera, and wanted to get past him before I turned. Ironically, 10 yards closer to shore and I'd have been fine.

Sad Sorry about broken board. Are you getting a slingshot?

No, the board is fine. Just a good ding at the back of the fin box that will be easy to repair. The box is still very secure to the bottom and the deck is fine, too. I got lucky. The board behaved very well on the trip and I'm happy with it.

The comment about the Slingshot is that it seemed that those taking it out for the first time seemed to do pretty well and it's not super expensive. Also, the default wing is pretty big so you get out of the water easily which is what it's about for the first year. The smaller wing seemed plenty fast, too, if that's your thing. Everyone, however, who has tried the Starboard carbon foil says it's tres speedy. "The opposite shore comes at you really quickly," is how Karen put it.

Glad it wasn't more tragic Webalong Cassidy. That reminds me of a couple of unfortunate experiences where I found out exactly how deep the water was at Nags Head. Sadly, instead of crunching my board, it crunched my knee, which could only be fixed by time, not Marine .Tex and Duct Tape.

It was warm enough today for epoxy to cure outside

If you hadn't told us, we'd never know you grounded & dinged your board. Now all we need is wind & warmth to get back on the water.

Why, thanks! But, wow, am I slow. Glad I don't do this for a living. I'd go broke. Yep, waiting for warmer weather and my delivery of fin screws from https://www.boltdepot.com/
