We stayed at this place during New Year week (different unit). https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19483290?location=Hudson%2C%20FL%2C%20United%20States&s=OQm7bKH3&guests=1&adults=1
It is a gated community with water access about 15 miles north from Tarpon Springs.
It was a cold week, but I was putting on my wet suit in a room,
and after the session I was walking into the shower with wet-suit on.
Another cool thing is that this is a shallow place, from knee deep to the shoulder deep for at least a mile in a west direction.
I didn't go further because I was practicing my water starts.
They have many available units.
You can search airbnb.com for Hudson, FL.

So, did you (waterstart)? Did you sail the Carve? Good rate on the room, btw.

I was able to waterstart almost every time I could touch the ground.
Now I need to work on a rig recovery; maybe get a PFD.
I took only two boards with me - SCross and Nova, thinking my family members try to windsurf.
But it was to cold for them. Last two days I was powered up on a 6.5, so Carve would be better board.
I was planing to use it past Saturday, but I got sick.
Next time.
Highly recommended for waterstarting and/or when you lose your rig: http://stores.wetsuit.com/kite-vest-red-d51/
They also have grey and black options. Dakine has something similar. I love it, too, because the flush isn't as bad when you fall in. Almost invisible when you wear it. Not constricting at all.

After a friend had a long, unplanned swim, a little bit of flotation seemed like a good idea. Following his lead, I got one of these from one of our regatta sponsors, Zhik. Really well made.
Webguy, what size are you wearing for the Promotion vest? I am thinking about getting one (and I believe we are about the same size/stature)
Large. Reflexively ordered medium first time around and it was the wrong size - my failure to read the size chart cost me return shipping. It's unisex sizing. It works great with chest harnesses like my snazzy new T7
Quote:
UNISEX SIZING
chest 23 - 26 wear size: XS
chest 27 - 30 wear size: S
chest 31 - 35 wear size: M
chest 36 - 40 wear size: L
Was any wind in warmer location found?....I'm starting to feel restless.
As far as the flotation vests go, Ion also make a well fitting one. I got one for kiting, works well with waist harness.
(The Gorge Surf Shop and Big Winds should have them)
Forecast for Cocoa Beach next week. I would prefer some south wind, but temps still in the mid to upper 60s. Still a week out, but I'm paying attention...
Pacific cold front headed our way. That can mean warm and wind in Tarpon Springs.
Not seeing any signs of it in the 10 day forecast (for Tarpon Springs anyway). How far are you looking out? Cocoa Beach forecast is still holding though...
Windy.com is showing stronger winds on the East coast, while windguru.com is a toss-up for both coasts. It seems that east winds would be better on the east coast (coming off the ocean vs land), but I’ll go wherever everyone is going.
I am making tenitive plans for Cocoa beach and surrounding areas for the upcoming Thurs Fri Sat.
Still watching the weather and Sat may be at St. Augustine if rain makes it up to Cocoa.
I spoke with Bjorn at Manatee Hammock Campground. They are open and have tent sites for this weekend.
I've stayed there and thought it was nice.... way better than Jetty Park where I got beat up by a girl
It's on the Indian River maybe 15 min? north of Kelly Park. I'm not sure about sailing from the campground. They are strict about hooliganism– so Langdon, if you go there, you might have to take it down a notch.
Two day min for reservations. Their website is down so call to arrange. 321.264.5083

Gee - maybe I should get one of those.

That front is on the west coast as of yesterday. Have faith it will make it here.

windmapper shows Tarpon warming up, too. http://windmapper.com/forecast/tarpon%20springs,%20fl
which is good. Gotta see a man in Sarasota about a quiver of Naish Choppers
Next Fri Sat Sun
Van is packed and ready.
Hopefully the forcast will hold

Fred Howard is not too good on E.
