He was like the guys at Xerox PARC. They came up with some really neat stuff but it took an evangelist like Schweitzer, Jobs or Gates to envision the possibilities and sell it.
OTOH, if Darby's idea had gained more traction, I wonder if we'd have arrived at short, wide boards sooner instead of the roughly 30 years it took from the original Windsurfer.
