I can't make it today, but for SW - VP has a fairly long trip past the wind shadow. You might consider Sunrise or Old Fed if you aren't going to meet someone anyway. I used to go to Two Mile Creek for SW, if you are near that part of the lake. SW winds are usually the most fickle of all, and often disappoint no matter where you sail.

If you are really up for an adventure - you might look at Keith's Bridge sometime. Not bad for a longboard - you have to just get out of shadowed cove and then you have a very nice long W or SW fetch. I've been there on days when it's crazy windy when nowhere else was working. (Usually spring days with cold water, warm air issues.) Or you can carry the gear through the woods. Right now with the lake so low, you might just be able to walk on the shore out of the shadow.

BTW - I thought Sunrise was always open, but perhaps Webster knows.

Webster says - Sunrise day park closes at 5pm daily now.
The marina security guards got tired of having to deal with the drunken locals after dark.

Live report from Old Fed.
Apparently someone decided to drain most of the Lake Lanier whilst I was at Cape Hatteras.

They took the wind with them, too.

Global warming was ok when it was making 20 mph winds in August. Now that its drained the lake and killed the wind, I'm kind of feeling a bit more sorry for the polar bears.

You think its bad for windsurfers, Were having to use rappelling gear to get down to our boat slip at Sunrise now.
