As Chris P noted in his post, it was a good day at Old Fed. Winds were 10-15 then 10-20+, per wind meters on the shore, not Gilmer. David D and I Kited (14 & 11 meters,) Chris V Foiled on 6.5?, and David W was on a 7.5. Chris's student Scott had an impressive after lesson session in 15-20 mph winds.
At Old Federal, good crowd but not so good wind, but is July. After the real good wind on Thursday, it looked like more of the same, but after it started to build up, to say 15, it dropped back off.
David D and I tried to kite, but rigged too small. We were joined by Windsurfers Ed, Pat P, Jim C, Chris P, Langdon, Alan S, plus David W on his Hobie cat and Jetski. Some of the Windsurfers had checked out Van Pugh earlier and decided due to the wind shadow and chop to go to Old Fed instead.
For sure not as good as Thursday, but I had a swell day at the sailing club. Wind was off & on but I was able to get in sync with it and had probably the longest foil ride so far without touching down– about 5 minutes... or maybe it was closer to 15 seconds but hooked in, leveled off and in control of it. Next time– foiling jibe!
15 to 24 right now!
