Oh really... maybe not "all the time", but they need a lot more help to get up. Shok
Interesting, if you look close, you can see they reversed the camber on the wing to try and save a capsize (it didn't work). But in SanFran one of the 72s did save it in the same way and one of the crew later described it as "just like a water start for a windsurfer".

Re: Foiling Friday

Channel 46 Weather's graphic had Thurs WINDY, Fri WINDY, Sat WINDY, Sun BREEZY.

I hope to Kite at Old Fed today and Friday (from WNW) and Windsurf Sat and Sun at Van Pugh (from East) early to beat the crowds.

Can't make it today (it's effing killing me, I even loaded the van). I've got my reservations in for tomorrow, though.

You think the wind will still be up after work? I might come up to old fed around 630 if so.

Another useful page thanks to the LLSC
http://www.llsc.com/clubcam/

to view the image itself (the page squeezes it a bit) on most modern browsers, right click on the image and select "view image", or
www.llsc.com/database/cam/webcam.jpg

If you can't tell by looking at the water, the heel of the sailboats can be helpful. Van Pugh typically gets 2-5 more mph in my experience on a west. NW, they both tend to be more equal (ie crappy).

wtf? http://www.ajc.com/news/weather/thunderstorms-lightning-and-possible-hail-ahead/nrhhc/

Quote:
It’s dry now in metro Atlanta.

But lightning, heavy downpours and possible hail could affect the afternoon rush hour Friday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

They make it sound awful while the computer models and NOAA forecast each show no more than 20% chance (or even less). Am I missing something?

The chance of rain at my house is nil since I live in a heat island affected zone.

Re: Foiling Friday

Maybe just a slow news day.
"Any horrific mind-numbing tragedies?"
"Nope"

"Any ridiculous things from a politician's twitter feed?"
"Nope"

"Any biblically scaled plagues?"
"Well, no toads but it's summer time so it could - in theory - rain."

"Didn't we just write an article yesterday about a severe drought?"
"Don't worry, Our readers are idiots. They won't remember. Go with that."

Webster typed, apparently without thinking: "They make it sound awful while the computer models and NOAA forecast each show no more than 20% chance (or even less). Am I missing something?"

Uh, Webster- it's coming down,

And, yet, no rain at Van Pugh. That's all that mattered. Yahoo
(Thanks for the text, though. I felt sympathy for you. Briefly. Very briefly.) Wink

I sailed my 7.0. I foiled for 10 seconds. It was a good day.

The foil is like smoking a coca derived stimulant. You just want more of it. And like said stimulant, I can't afford it. If anyone finds me in an abandoned house working to raise the funds for a foil, please notify my family.

You amateur foilers need to remember one thing: gravity never takes a day off.
