I'm in. Screw "the big game™" Roger Goodell warned me how dangerous my couch is.

Yep it's been too long. Weekend + sunny + temp >50F - it makes it into my windsurf magic quadrant. Randy I hope you like that reference.
I did come to realize that the formula has some variability that will adjust the temperature lower threshold, the key component being the "number of days since the last session".

All that to say I am planning for Van Pugh around 1 PM. And I will then feel just fine to spend some time on the sofa.

I'm going somewhere to sail. I just don't know where - the River, Galts, Little Ridge or Van Pugh are the leading candidates.

So the river it was, fortunately there was wind since SUP would have been a tall order with all the current today. One of the better days at the Baby Gorge. Wind was pretty gusty as usual. I'd guess 5-20. Current was really strong, but made it kind of interesting since you could point way upwind. Upwind and downwind were kind of like running on the moving sidewalk at the airport. You could make great speeds upwind, but run like crazy not get that far downwind. And in a lull, I was sailing backward at times. A few people were trying to paddle kayaks though they really struggled to get upstream.

Got to VP about 2. Ed was already there and Stephan just behind. Water was depressingly glassy. A few sailboats looked like they were hanging the bedsheets out to dry.

What the hell we decided - the forecast was still for wind to kick in as the day went on, the sun was out and it wasn't frightfully cold - so we rigged and launched.

We worked our way upwind towards the Three Sisters and the longer we waited, the more it was apparent that this was a bad day to leave the formula board at home. Not even a puff enough to try to pump on a plane. It was also apparent that I hadn't held on to a boom that long without benefit of a harness and my arms were a bit out of shape.

Then, around 4, it kicked in. At first just some puffs up by the sisters but pretty soon it was a decent 12-15. We ended up getting a good 90 minutes of decent wind before the sun set. Glad we stuck it out.

The water is starting to get that winter chill and this week won't help things.

AJ - you are very tech savvy guy, so I'm surprised you haven't figured this out. There is a thing called DVR (not sure what that stands for.) You can use it to store and then watch stuff on TV whenever you like. So a big football game could be watched after you go windsurfing. So you can store football until wind is over, but you can store wind until football is over.
