Re: Happy New Year

Well since we are ushering in the New Year with Public Service Videos, here's a good one for kiters. (I don't kitesurf, but I'm assured this is a good one.)

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

Good stuff. There is a good discussion in the comments (rare thing on youtube).

The guy has a some good tutorials - Gene, a great way to kill time on a no wind day in Florida or Hatteras.

I'm dipping in a toe later today. I'll let you know. Hope the dock is still there.

Re: Happy New Year

Dock was there. Apparently just lost one of the anchor steel pilings early this morning. Bummer.

Anyways... water isn't too bad - feels like early April maybe. Didn't feel too bad to be in with a 4/3 wetsuit and hands didn't feel bad for getting wet either. A lot of stuff in the water.

Re: Happy New Year

Pat Park, Stephan, Mr. B and Jim C showed up. Wonderful big sail day although we all felt the lay off from not having sailed in a few weeks.

Everyone rigged big and barely came off a plane - wind was 12-18. Very little boat traffic but a "pine needle" fin would have been nice. We were picking up all sorts of debris on our fins from leaves and pine needles to sticks and fishing line.

Some picks of the high water

Re: Happy New Year

Despite the forecast showing 16 mph gusts in the afternoon, it was dead calm at our Atlanta home. Then Jim called to say he was headed to the Lake and Pat, Stephan & William were already there. So I headed to Lanier and was surprised to see whitecaps on the water when I arrived. Thanks to Jim for giving me a call. Here are a couple of photos taken between 4-5PM of William launching and the two of us sailing together. Thanks to Stephan for snapping the second photo.
