Who is going to be the first to buy one of these?

I'm thinking of Barrett or Chris Voith.

Good news: max speed 25 mph

Randy, you won't outrun it. Wink

Bad news: Flight time 20 min.
For most of us, 20 min is going out, jibe, fall in, waterstart, fall in, waterstart, finally get going and still be 200 yds from returning all the way to shore..

I guess you didn't see the 27.2 I racked up in Salvo, or the 27.5 I scored at Nags Head. (I do admit, though, it will probably be able to keep up with me every where except OBX.)

Not quite as cool but

The wifi version is controlled by a smartphone and you can see the video on the smartphone screen
Video quality isn't quite as good as a go pro but it's only $50 so……..

This looks really cool!!! With 3 sunny sailing sessions yesterday, we could have been flying it all day. I'm leery of paying for a pre-order, then waiting months for delivery. Maybe next Spring in Nags Head.

Chris , why don't you be the first to buy one and let me know how it works out.

Tidal assisted speeds don't count ROFL

Seriously, it's very cool and the reality is that most of us (including myself) really aren't that fast unless we peel one way off wind. I can't see buying one myself - the anxiety of having my little robot overhead waiting on me to do something interesting and then judging me. It's too much pressure.

Or just wait 'till someone shows up at your launch with a fancy drone and some flying skills:

You'll need to buy one of these too. "Slogger" hats for summer windsurfing in Atlanta. http://www.sloggers.com/category-s/1818.htm

I'm gonna pass. Can't imagine much, less interesting than a video of me doing anything.
There are some other companies ahead of this guy in selfie-drone technology... good demo video but, I suspect mostly shot via regular drones with operators.

That might prevent my signature sunburned neck.

From the comments above, looks like Barrett will be the first kid on our block to drone himself, or at least he's more intrigued than Chris.

Not true at all - I welcome my little robot overlord.

I do admit to feeling like Chris - watching videos of myself doing just about anything just bring shame and disappointment. I prefer to remain in my fantasy world and not be confronted with the reality that I suck pretty badly at most things I attempt.

I heard this song over the past weekend and it sticks in my head every time I read this thread

Robot Overlords wouldn't be too bad as long as they are cylons.

BTW - the best part of the GoPro is you never actually see yourself doing anything. You just get a distorted view of whatever you saw, which you can edit to death and make it look like you wanted to see.

Now here's a perfect example of a time when this device would have been really valuable. The guy could make enough off his video to pay his hospital bills. (And people think Atlanta sucks for windsuring and kitesurfing.)
