Sunday, 3/15?

The Weather Radio was saying 10-15 today, sunny and warm. Although I cant find any other forecast of wind today, it might turn out to be a good longboarding or paddleing day, or just hanging out day.

If anyone is coming out, it also might be a good time to pick up your unsold/stored consignment gear from the shop. Or pick up new gear which has been ordered.

Anyway, it's probably too nice of a day to waste doing yardwork, etc.

Stephan and I went out despite it not even pretending to look like enough wind to plane and we didn't. But, it was a beautiful day, clear skies and the mountains quite visible in the distance. Good to be out all the same. The wind was a consistent 6-8 ish, enough to pull pretty hard on the arms and very steady.

As Gene said, better than yard work.

After you told me of the dome of still air surrounding the launch at VP, I headed to Ben Franklin park (Old Fed) and found there was some wind close to shore. Was going to sail, but ended up deciding to paddle and if the wind looked promising once I went out, I was going to sail. DIdn't look that impressive, so I stuck with paddling. I was guessing 5-10 ish. I did find you can paddle a start pretty well and my sit down seat actually worked pretty nicely. I followed this guy's method in building the seat. Gene and I also spent some time untangling the lines on his kite.

I have been paddling my Start since October as I acquired a rig piece by piece. Its doesn't glide as well as a SUP, but it definitely isn't a bad substitute. The retractable centerboard is a nice addition for tracking. I have the 3rd generation Large 120+ cm wide model so its like a floating island...just need to add some palm trees and a hammock.

Works out well that way - if there's wind you can sail, if not paddle. No wasted trips.

Since I don't think Chinook, Ezzy or DaKine have anything suitable, you may find this useful:
