If soccer is cancelled because the fields are still wet. There will be people there. We'll get to see if any of the Hatterites can jibe in the crap chop instead of the smooth stuff of the Sound.

Unless there's a specific reason to be there, give the kiters some room and windsurf elsewhere. Sunrise is onshore if you need that. Van Pugh has more wind and a longer fetch. Actually, there are a lot of parks that work better for windsurfers. Kiters can't use them, though, because of the trees. The local kiters are cool but Old Federal is the park that works best for them and unless I'm wrong - kiters correct me if need be - I'd think the fewer things they have to avoid, the better.
If you are there, to hang with the kiters, watch and learn, that's cool and disregard everything above.
hi all. We had an awesome sailing day yesterday kitters and windsurfers. Webguy, thanks for the concern, but really we enjoyed the windsurfer's presence there. Actually these windsurfers are kind of all terrain sailors. Some of them were alternating between kiting and windsurfing. When it was really howling they will take the windsurf and viceversa. Given the low water level, the old federal sailing spot has been divided in two zones, separated by the sand exposed, and that was keeping things really manageable. Given the strong winds yesterday, we were able to kite on the cove east from the marina that's in front of old federal, in pretty smoth water, it was really nice.
I speak for myself, don't know how other kiters feel about it. To me having the windsurfers around did not made it any more difficult. Actually, I enjoyed having them around.
That's cool, Emilio - thus my second paragraph. I know that you guys have fewer choices from where to launch and didn't want to make things harder than they needed to be. Expecially if they were alternating, then they were in the right spot. You may not see a lot of us over there on a big day because the swell will be better between VP and Aqualand. I was also thinking that you guys that are there now are the more experienced and can pretty much go where you want but as you get more newbies, you might need to give them some cushion room when the water returns to normal.
