Women's Clinic Dec 13-15

GIRLS...There is still room for you at the women's clinic in Cocoa Beach.  All levels are welcome, even beginners.  There are 3 of us from Atlanta going. I still have room in my car  for extra people.
For more info go to the travel and trips link on the ABC home page.

Just a quick note about the clnic (even though I am not a girl.)  According to the link, the clinic is taught by Petra Kanz.  She is one of the top women's freestylers in the US, winning Queen of the Cape a few years ago.  I took lessons from her last Feb at Beth's Shortboard Clinic.  Petra does a great job.  She is very thorough, methodical and has some very good insights.  She breaks down each maneuver into a number of steps and you practice on land, then in the water.

I had always been hesitant to sign up for clinics for fear there would not be enough wind.  However, even though there was not much wind, Petra had a whole of material she covered.  So you don't have to worry the trip will be wasted if there is not enough wind.  She also did a nice job of tailoring the material to my level of understanding, skills and interests.  She mixes a combination of on the water and on the shore teaching to make for a very productive clinic.  I don't think you will be disappointed.

Acute Yes, the women's clinic was great!!! Kelli and I got back very, very early this morning... Petra and Beth were fantastic and there were about 13 women of different sailing abilities attending. Kelli managed to get some ocean surf time with Petra   Dirol and we got lessons on waterstarts, racing, tacks and gybes and much more. Friday and Saturday winds were strong enough (20-35!)to learn waterstarts and Sunday was good for perfecting those pivot gybes. Boy, did we learn a lot. More to come about this when I get time to put my thoughts (and pictures) together. See y'all out on the water at Galt's (if it's above 50 f.) and maybe at a race sometime????
