A few good deals at Sports Authority

FYI,

I saw a few closeout deals on weather radios at Sports Authority on Roswell Road in Marietta today.

1)Oregon Scientific Desktop WX Radio $9.97 (was $59.99)
2)Oregon Scientific Handheld WX Radio $29.97 (was $69.99)
3)GPX Desktop WX Radio $9.97 (was $19.99)

On another subject, does anybody have any experience with watersport goggles? Sports Authority had some made by Aqua Sphere ("Seal" and "Ironman" models).  They came in clear, mirrored, and photochromatic lenses.

The package said windsurfing on it and I was thinking they might be good for sailing in rain (seems to happen at least once every Hatteras trip and in sun for U.V protection (I've already lost one pair of glasses).  The price was $29.99 for the clear lenses and $34.99 for all others.  The optional carring case was $7.99.  For comparison I saw almost identical looking goggles by Dolfino at Walmart and Amazon.com for around $4.00-6.00.

I had a pair of the mirrored watersport goggles from Sports Authority for keeping water out of my eyes just after laser surgery.  The first time out of the package, a friend tossed them in the lake near me and about 5 seconds after hitting the water they sank.  Add something to them so they will float and they might work well for windsurfing.   Dirol

I use a welding helmet, and a mouthpiece. Be sure to get the torch lens, since its hard to see out of unless it lightning.  ;D

It would seem to me that a weilding helmet would be heavy and the water would not drain easily after a wipe out.  On the other hand, it wouldn't dent when taking a mast hit.
