windsurfer car racks

I've recently purchased a Chevy Blazer with a factory roof rack and I was wondering if that was sufficient to carry a longboard at highway speed.  Thule makes a fit kit to bind the loadbars to the factory rack, so I guess that means the sidebars are fine - it's the factory loadbars that are in question.  They're rated 200 lbs, just like the Thules, but they don't say anything about the aerodynamics of a surfboard.  Any of y'all had experience, good or bad, with the factory racks.

Re: windsurfer car racks

Dave,

I have a Ford Taurus wagon with a factory roof rack and have used it w/o problem for longboard at highway speeds.  I don't know how similar my wagon is to the Chevy however.  (It always does make me nervous, but that's just me).

Most people say to put the back end of the board in front, and arrange theboard so the fin points down.  This will produce less upward lift.  I haven't usually done it this way, however, but have started to do so.
