Hi, any thoughts on a shallow spot for spring break?
Was going to go to Jax but it looks like it's low tide in the pm next week.
Any other thoughts?
Must be shallow (the peewee is sailing)
Must be warm (he only has a shorty)
Should be 5-6 hrs from ATL (ie Merrit island is too far)
Camping is a plus.

Fort Walton Beach? THere's a pleasant, cheap, state park campground at Niceville.
Hey,
How about Cape San Blas? It's shallow, warm, and about 5 hours away. If your lucky, you can get one of the cabins at the state park (talk to Scott for more info).

Ft. Walton would be the call. Okaloosa Island National Seashore Park between the bridges of Destin and Ft. Walton. Bathroom, outside shower, paved parking, no dogs, good on all directions. 5.5 hours from Atl. 347 miles. Try camping at Grayton Beach State Park ( on the ocean plus a small lake to sail in at the campground )
I might even be interested in gooing too.
We ended up doing St. Augustine. Sailed at Anastasia State Park (http://www.windsurfstaugustine.com) at Salt Run, a tidal inlet behind the dunes. With the wind ese, it was a bit narrow, lots of jibes in really flat water but it let Simon sail without my having to worry about him sailing off to Nassau.
He sailed a 2.1 on the Start and we finally took the center fin out and he planed. Next we have to get him in the harness. He sailed for 1.5 hours without one! I sailed a 6.8 both days. And Kurt S., he had a couple of runs on the Bassett. He's going to start sailing that more, now.
We ended up staying at a B&B in town (highly recommended) instead of camping as my daughter had a cold and her dad wanted a soft bed.
Good spot for lower intermediates and you can sail in the bay or off the beach for the more experienced and the site-seeing is great.
Thanks for all the tips.
