Re: florida

Wind guaranteed? Surely you jest.  I've even been skunked in Aruba and the Gorge.

Anyway-

Jacksonville pros: good spot on high tide or sail the river/ocean.  con: can still be chilly

Daytona: Pro: getting warmer, good beach con: further, college spring breakers may mean accomodations scarce

Cocoa Beach: Still get fronts, warmer, close to the Mouse and other family attractions Con: still further

Tampa/St. Pete: Pro: Lots of sailing spots, other activities con: relies on same fronts as GA

Gulf Coast Pro: Closer, lots of spots from Panama City to Mobile con: colder water, same weather patterns as GA, college spring breakers from Indiana at some spots like Panama City Beach

Miami pro: warm, can get weather patterns unrelated to GA weather con: quite a hike.

Howard Park at Tarpon Springs is a great location.  It is waist to chest deep in most places and has good wind.  Tackle Shack now ? has a demo man there almost every day to demo equipment.  I have been there with just a few sailors and when dozens were on the water.  Now is their biggest time.  Still wet suit weather.  I'm headed down there 3/29-4/3.  You can stay in the city or go to Clearwater to be on the beach.  Hope that helps.
